Estuary
Reflections where the Shabakai (Russian River) meets the Big Waters (Pacific Ocean)
A thousand crystals dance on waters surface
Osprey glides on wild winds
tall tule sway in synchronized dance
dark cypress and I share in the splendor
of this dream come alive
Always willing to receive me as I am
this place
in all my multitudes
as dynamic as the sun and fog and rains
that facilitate these inner and outer landscapes
of miraculous unpredictability
I fly upon waters surface
gliding through ripples in my boat
dancing with the thousand crystals
that now shimmer behind closed eyes
as I turn my head up to the burning sun
breathing
my minds eye vision
met by reality as I peer outwards
to the great expanse of your being
shimmering
A polysymbiotic refuge
where two great bodies meet
thermoclines of tireless movement
creating the conditions conducive
for ever-emerging newness and novelty
yet safety and sanctuary
for tired aquatic bodies to rest
and below your crystallin surface
you hold such complexity and depth
not measurable, but holographic
in stratifications of opaque teal
ever darkening as you swallow sunlight
I continue upon your surface
still glistening as the sun gives way to the moon
Trying to comprehend your vastness
temporal, quantitative, tangible
but I am quickly humbled
by the impossibility of defining you
I turn to my humility
my humanity
of not knowing,
and my hands release from the paddle
as I loosen my grasp of understanding
and I float
in this extended moment
as a drop of water in the estuary.
