Returning

I am a rock

A lichen

An opportunistic generalist

A mutualistic symbiont

An in between being

Thriving on the thresholds

that give color to soul

that breathe life into marrow

and make nectar from blood.

I make my life

on the elemental edges

where nothing lies lifeless.

Stone, wind, sun, spore

everything vibrating, pulsating

calling me home

into the deep well of belonging

where there exists

the ineffable capacity to hold

all darkness and all light,

the ancient guidance

to make sense of all of my senses,

and the invitation

to sink ever deeper

into the substance of everything;

from

the molecular matrix of cosmos

to the ethereal flowers

of spirits meadows.

Remembering,

that everything I perceive

is a part of me

and me, a part of them,

Inescapable participation

That shapes every curve

of Earth body.

For we are Earth body

inextricably interdependent

woven with sinew

rendered from myth and medicine,

a quilt of being sewn

blanketing this reality

cradling all beings

and beckoning our return.
